Ancient tragedies of Ancient Greece
9.99 €
In the fifth century BC, the heyday of Greek tragedy and theater begins. One by one, three great tragedies appear on the historical scene - Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Their plays had a significant influence on William Shakespeare, Jean-Baptiste Molière, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Oscar Wilde, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and other artists. References to great tragedies can be found in psychology (Oedipus complex and Electra complex), and in the lyrics of modern rock bands, and even in advertising.
The collection contains the main plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides: “Persians”, “Orestea”, “Prometheus chained”, “King Oedipus”, “Oedipus in Colon”, “Antigone”, “Medea”, “Hippolytus”, “Bacchanchi”.
The introductory article for this publication was written by Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Literature of the Gorky Literary Institute Tatiana Borisovna Gvozdeva, Candidate of Historical Sciences.
