The objectives of teaching algebra are to expand students' understanding of number, to teach them to make identical transformations of algebraic expressions consciously, quickly and in the most rational way, to develop the idea of functional dependence and its graphical representation, to teach the methods of making equations and methods of their solutions, as well as the application of knowledge to solving simple problems from related disciplines: physics, chemistry, astronomy, technology, agriculture. Teaching of algebra begins in the 6th grade (conducted in parallel with the teaching of arithmetic and geometry) and continues up to the final 10th grade.
