Alexandria Quartet: Justine. Balthazar
6.99 €
The four parts of the novel-tetralogy "Alexandria Quartet" do not bear the names of their main characters for nothing. The reader can look at the same events - the life of Egyptian Alexandria before and during the Second World War - through the eyes of completely different people. The first book - "Justine" - is the story of a complex and eccentric romance between a young British literary man, Darley, and the European wife of a millionaire Egyptian, Justine, which happened in Alexandria in the 1930s. The second - "Balthazar" - is both a peculiar "look from a different angle" at the relationship between Darley and Justine and a fascinating chronicle of the anti-British conspiracy of the Egyptian aristocracy.
