The book is an adaptation of one of the best works of the famous Anglo-American children's author Frances Burnett's "The Mysterious Garden" about an early orphaned girl named Mary Lennox who finds herself at her guardian uncle's estate, where one day she finds an abandoned garden. She begins to tend the garden, and as it blossoms and fragrances in response to her care, Mary also "blossoms" and "comes to life." From a sickly, selfish, and spoiled child, she transforms into a healthy, kind, and compassionate girl.
This novel of self-healing is recognized as one of the most popular children's novels in twentieth-century literature.
The text is adapted for educational purposes up to the Elementary level. Each chapter is accompanied by a commentary, translations of difficult words and expressions, as well as tasks taking into account the requirements of the USE. They are aimed not only at checking text comprehension, but also at practicing vocabulary, grammar, and reading skills. The exercises allow you to form and develop communicative competences necessary for successful passing of the final exam in grade 9.
