The Abwehr was a German military intelligence service on the eve of World War II that entangled the whole of Europe in its web. The famous German historian Gerd Buchheit tells the story of the Abwehr from its creation in 1921 to its complete collapse in 1944.

Buchheit's book was first published in German in 1966, but it has not lost its relevance to this day and is one of the best histories of German military intelligence.

The author describes various aspects of the Abwehr's work - espionage, recruitment and use of agents, logistics and functioning, special operations and, of course, the participation of the Abwehr leadership in conspiracies and assassination attempts on Hitler. Particular attention is paid to the sabotage activities of the Abwehr on the territory of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War.

"Look, listen, shut up" is the motto of the Abwehr.
