The collection presents the works of the outstanding German romantic writer Wilhelm Hauff (1802–1827), reflecting the various facets of his talent: three author's cycles of fairy tales published in Russian in full, among which are the stories about the caliph-stork, included in the treasury of world literature, Dwarf Nose, Little Flour and Peter the Coal Miner; the short story "Phantasmagoria in the Bremen wine cellar", imbued with memories of the cheerful student years that the writer spent in Tübingen, and at the same time full of incredible incidents; finally, the novel Liechtenstein, where, against the backdrop of turbulent historical events - the struggle of Ulrich, Duke of Württemberg, with the powerful Swabian League and the Bavarian Duchy - a romantic love story unfolds between the daughter of a loyal supporter of the Duke, Maria von Lichtenstein, and the knight Georg von Sturmfeder. Some of the fairy tales are presented in a new translation by the famous translator Marina Yurievna Koreneva.
