"The Pot of Porridge" - a German folk tale from the collection of the Brothers Grimm, perhaps one of the most famous and favorite from early childhood. It is a story about how a girl received a gift from an old woman a pot that cooks porridge itself, if you only say a magic spell. The girl took the pot to her mother, but when she decided to use it, she forgot how to tell the pot to stop in time. The pot made so much porridge that it flooded all the streets, and the townspeople had to eat their way through. But no one complained, everyone was only happy, because the porridge was very tasty.
The simple plot of this short humorous tale is easily understood by very young children who are just beginning their acquaintance with the book, and Vladimir Konashevich's illustrations are so lively and "cozy" that even adult readers have the desire to immediately settle on its pages and eat their way through the sweet porridge in company with the inhabitants of the ancient town.
