The battleship "Admiral Nakhimov", named in honor of the famous naval commander who defeated the Turkish fleet in the Battle of Sinop, became one of the most interesting warships built in the Russian Empire. "Admiral Nakhimov" significantly surpassed in artillery power most of the ships of the late XIX century. For a long time he was one of the fastest and heaviest cruisers in the world. It was on this ship that for the first time in the Russian Navy guns were installed in armored turrets, as well as the use of electric lighting and anti-torpedo networks. The cruiser was built during the transitional period of armored fleet development, when steam engines and sailing spar were combined in the projects - so "Nakhimov" turned out to be the largest sailing brig in the history of the Russian Navy. The ship spent most of its service in ocean voyages - from the Pacific Ocean to the United States and the Mediterranean Sea. The campaign as part of the 2nd Pacific Squadron was his last voyage, and now the famous cruiser, heroically lost in the Battle of Tsushima, rests in the waters of the Korean Strait.
