Millennia of coexistence with humans have given dogs the ability to learn socially from humans, including imitation. In her book, Italian researcher and dog trainer Claudia Fugazza proposes a unique method for training dogs through imitation of human actions—"Do as I do." The method is based on research conducted by a group of ethologists from the University of Budapest, led by Professor Ádám Miklósi. Based on the natural cognitive abilities inherent in dogs of all types and breeds, the "Do as I do" method is superior to traditional associative learning methods, especially in teaching complex concepts. The method has proven effective in training service dogs, but can be used in any training program and in educational games. Furthermore, the communication and cooperation integral to "Do as I do" training helps strengthen the bond between humans and dogs.
