"Unknown Andersen: Tales and Stories" is a collection of late works by Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875), revealing new sides of the creative personality of the writer, not only the creator of immortal children's tales, but also a deep, wise man, with a certain philosophy and religious views, who addressed his works primarily to an adult audience. The book includes sixteen tales in modern translations by masters of the Russian translation school - Nora Kiyamova, Nina Fedorova, Elena Krasnova and Olga Drobot. Most of the works were published in the anniversary collection of works by H.K. Andersen, which came out in 2005 and became a bibliographic rarity, several tales were translated especially for this edition. The collection opens with an introductory article by a specialist in Andersen's work - A.V. Korovin. The book is supplemented by unique illustrations by the Russian artist and stage designer Oskar Klever (1887–1975). Illustrations for fairy tales and stories by Hans Christian Andersen, created in Tsarskoye Selo, in the camp in Konitz in 1941–1942, and in Leningrad in the early 1970s, became one of the main themes of the artist’s work.
