His name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. You can do magic with that name, he's not responsible for the consequences. When things take a strange turn, when what should be buried in darkness crawls out into the light, when no one else can help you, call.... Who? Him, Harry Dresden. His name's in the Yellow Pages... It's not nice to get killed. That's what Harry Dresden thinks. But imagine his surprise when, instead of a quiet spot in a cemetery, he finds himself in Chicago-Meets-City of Purgatory, between the world of the dead and the world of the living. And Harry now has only two choices: either stay here and do police work, or go to the world of the living to solve his own murder. True, in the form of a ghost. Harry chooses the latter ("Ghost Story"). It doesn't get any easier by the hour. Mab, Queen of Air and Darkness, instructs Harry - and he's her Winter Knight and can't disobey the Queen's orders - to kill not just anyone, but her daughter Maeve, the Winter Lady. But she, like all Fae, is immortal. So the task is impossible. I guess. And do I have to obey Maeve? What if she's out of her mind? Or is she being controlled by some dark forces? In general, for the wizard Harry wherever you go - only problems ("Cold Days"). The cycle of novels about Harry Dresden takes a worthy place in a row with such a famous example of fantasy detective, as a series of adventures of Garrett, which came out from under the pen of Glenn Cook.
