The burden of responsibility on firefighters is not just great - it is enormous. They come to the aid of people in all kinds of situations, from comical to tragic. Today a firefighter takes a cat out of a tree, and tomorrow he pulls a child out of a fire. But how does he feel at the same time? How does he cope with his own experiences? What experience does he get out of each shift at work? This is what the author Edric Kennedy-McPhoy, an athlete, coach and former London firefighter, decided to tell his readers.
Edric Kennedy-McFoy was born and raised in west London. He spent thirteen years with the London Fire Brigade and has been involved in the aftermath of many tragic incidents. He was part of the ITV documentary series Inside London Fire Brigade, where he and his colleagues covered the Croydon disaster when a streetcar derailed there in November 2016 and the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017.
