Jack London (1876–1916) was an American writer, journalist, and public figure. Since 1899, collections of his stories have been regularly published. His rich life experience allowed him to accurately depict the events he described, which, combined with the general spirit of romance and adventure that permeated his works, ensured his success with readers. Jack London became a sought-after writer among his contemporaries and remains so today. His works have been translated into many languages and are loved by many generations of readers around the world.

The collection is designed using illustrations by American artists who worked at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Phillip Russell Goodwin (1881–1935) illustrated books by a number of authors, including Jack London and US President Theodore Roosevelt. Charles Livingston Bull (1874–1932) enjoyed depicting wildlife; he was a taxidermist and worked for various museums. Frank Earl Schoonover (1877–1972) was an avid painter, designed magazine covers, and restored paintings.
