A unique Indo-Chinese fantasy set in the atmosphere of Medieval Asia - from Freedom writer Row Mei.
Phoenixes do not age, have the gift of fire and are close to nature - they have beautiful gardens and tigers live in their palaces. Rumi is a phoenix girl, but she was born without immunity to fire. Only the precious flower of the Temple of the Great Spirits, the Golden Orchid, keeps her alive. When a dark demon, the spawn of the Darkness, steals the orchid, Rumi, along with the tigers Igne and Vite and the merchant Hanum, must travel to the palace of the phoenix king in the capital city.
Set in a fictional world inhabited by several nations, the narrative involves phoenixes and dragons. Phoenixes refer to Indian and Southeast Asian culture, dragons to Chinese culture.
The characters are all supernatural creatures: phoenixes, dragons, spirits, deities, demons, elves, and werewolves. Each race comes into the world in its own time, and each is patronized by a particular Spirit.
