The artist Alexander Yakovlev became famous thanks to his paintings and drawings made during the "Black Raid" - a trans-African expedition organized by the Citroen company. In 1931, he set off on another dangerous journey. This time, the route as part of a Citroen motorcade lay across the vastness of the Asian continent. The route ran from the coast of Syria through mountainous and desert regions and was supposed to end on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Despite the incredible difficulties and tragedies of this journey, Yakovlev managed to keep a diary and make sketches of landscapes, architectural monuments, local residents and scenes of their daily life. "The Yellow Raid" is a unique monument of artistic documentation of the life of this part of the world little known to Europeans, as well as a new stage in the artist's creative development.
