At one time, the books of Lydia Alekseevna Charskaya (née Voronova) in their popularity could argue with the publications of poets of the Silver Age. The future writer studied at the Pavlovsk Institute of Noble Maidens in St. Petersburg. On the basis of her own diary, which Charskaya kept during her studies, she wrote the first novella – “Notes of the Institute” (1901). In the novella “Princess Javakha” (1903) tells the backstory of one of the heroines of “Notes of the Institute”: the proud Georgian princess Nina Javakha was brought up in the Caucasus as future soldiers are raised, but then found herself in cold and gloomy Petersburg. Vitality, nobility, dreaminess, romance - these are the qualities of the characters of Lydia Charskaya, who have conquered more than one generation of young readers. The books of Lydia Charskaya are read, unable to break away from the fascinating plot and being under the charm of beautiful prose.
