"The Revolt of the Masses" is a socio-philosophical treatise by José Ortega y Gasset, the book that brought him worldwide fame. In it, he laid out for the first time in Western philosophy the fundamental principles of the so-called mass society, where each individual is a supernumerary with high demands and low aspirations, incapable of creativity and eschewing all responsibility. A state in which education, morality, and culture lose their authority faces inevitable decline, according to the author, for "mediocre souls, unafraid of their own mediocrity, fearlessly assert their right to it and impose it on everyone, everywhere."
The collection also includes works crucial to José Ortega y Gasset's creative legacy: "The Dehumanization of Art," "Reflections on Don Quixote," and "Spineless Spain."
