"The power of the unfulfilled" is, from the point of view of a Russian reader, a quote from Alexander Green's "Running on Waves". And from the point of view of an educated resident of the United Kingdom, "the power of the unfulfilled" is a quote from the writings of His Highness Ayokhta Menke, also known by the nickname Prince Sage. In his work White Fire of the Mind, Ayokhta Menke argues that every, even the happiest and most serene human life contains an infinite number of losses that we will never know. Thus, entering a house, we miss the chance to meet a lover, a friend, a teacher, or an enemy in the street; reciting a spell, we deprive ourselves of the chance to know what the world would be like without our conjuration; sparing an enemy, we deny ourselves the pleasure of his death, and killing him, we bring a curse upon ourselves; being awake, we miss a dream, and falling asleep, we cannot become participants in the events prepared for those who are awake. "Every action, every decision, inevitably multiplies the number of losses," the Sage Prince asserts. And adds: "Life is a continuous process of turning the possible into the unfulfilled, which means it is a suitable occupation for brave and generous people." And the book The Power of the Unfulfilled is, for the most part, about just that.
