Apikuni - Far White Cape - this is the name given by the Blackfoot Indians to the writer James Willard Schultz (1859-1947), who lived among them for a long time, traded with them, studied their history, beliefs and customs, and was married to a girl from the Piegan tribe. Schultz's books open a window for readers into the world of the Indians of the Old West, the world of hunters, warriors, travelers, medicine men, the world of pristine nature - the World of Apikuni.
The next volume of Schultz's works includes the writer's recollections of his youth, published as separate essays in the Montana newspaper "Great Falls Tribune". They were published posthumously in a shortened and edited form in the collection "Blackfeet and Buffalo". Now the reader has the opportunity to get acquainted with the memoirs of Apikuni in their original authorial version, seeing the world of the Far West as it was remembered by a young fur trader in the last quarter of the 19th century. The collection of stories "Thunderpipe" combines stories recorded by the author from the words of his Indian and white friends, as well as vivid episodes that he himself witnessed.
