The fashion for dollhouses came to Europe in the 16th century. Many of them were real works of art. In our time they have rightfully taken their place in museums. A doll's house of the XVIII century from the collection of the art museum Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam inspired the Dutch writer Anna Voltz to create the fairy tale "A Night in a Doll's House". And it was this house that the famous artist Dae Tön Kin depicted in the illustrations for this book.
In the old days, miniature dollhouses cost almost as much as real dollhouses and were a luxury item. They were not meant to be played with. Children were strictly forbidden to touch anything in dollhouses. However, the heroine of the story, a girl named Willemina, could not resist, took a tiny porcelain dog in her hands and accidentally broke off its tail ... So began this magical story.
After reading it, you will learn how the girl got to the doll's house by a miracle, what adventures awaited her there, and how Willemina changed after this incident. And if you visit the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, you will be able to see the dollhouse and the little porcelain dog with your own eyes.
