The "Rule of Faith" publishing house has prepared for publication "The Explanatory Apostle," a five-volume set: Interpretation of the Acts of the Holy Apostles; Interpretation of the Catholic Epistles; Interpretation of the Epistles of the Apostle Paul (in two volumes); and Interpretation of the Apocalypse.
This volume consists of interpretations of the Catholic Epistles by the eminent theologian Bishop Mikhail Luzin (1830-1887).
Bishop Mikhail graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy, received the title of professor at the age of 29, and was appointed rector of the Moscow Theological Academy in 1876. In 1878, he was consecrated Bishop of Uman. He also served as rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy. From 1883, he became Bishop of Kursk. He was particularly revered by his contemporaries for his work on the interpretation of Holy Scripture. His Commentaries on the Holy Gospel and the Epistle went through several editions before the Revolution.
The Church refers to the seven epistles written by the holy apostles Peter, John, James, and Jude as "catholic epistles," as these epistles were addressed to the entire Church at the time and addressed crucial issues of its spiritual structure.
Explanations of the epistles' texts, the circumstances that prompted their writing, and the questions facing the Church help to understand the apostles' thought more deeply and accurately. The expanded Table of Contents, prepared by the publisher, guides readers to the interpretation of the topic of interest.
The book is intended for a wide audience and can also be recommended for students in seminaries and theological schools studying the interpretation of the Holy Scriptures of the New Testament.
