Igor Nikolaevich Sukhikh (b. 1952) - Doctor of Philology, professor at St. Petersburg University, writer, critic. Author of more than 500 scientific papers on the history of Russian literature of the 1987th–2007th centuries, including the monographs Problems of Chekhov's Poetics (1996, 2006), Sergey Dovlatov: Time, Place, Destiny (2010, 2001, 2012), Books of the XX century. Russian Canon (2012), Prose of the Soviet Age: Three Fates. Babel. Bulgakov. Zoshchenko" (2015), "Russian Canon. Books of the XNUMXth century” (XNUMX), “From… to… Etudes on Russian Literature” (XNUMX), etc. The book "Structure and Meaning" was the result of the research and teaching experience of I. N. Sukhikh. It can be put on a par with textbooks for introduction to literary criticism, but it has at least three significant differences. Firstly, this book is interesting to read, and not just learn from it; secondly, it successfully combines theory and practice: the “Illustrations” section contains articles on particular issues of literary criticism; and thirdly, despite the academic nature of the presentation, the book is addressed to the widest range of readers.
