A child's world is unthinkable without A. S. Pushkin's fairy tales. Boris Aleksandrovich Dekhterev (1908-1993), "the chief children's artist of the USSR", who headed the art editorial office of the publishing house "Children's Literature" for more than thirty years, was one of the first to illustrate them. The first drawings were made by the artist in 1946 - for the forthcoming anniversary three-volume edition of the poet's works. The edition included three drawings each for the fairy tales "About Tsar Saltan", "About the Dead Princess" and "About the Fisherman and the Fish". A little later, in a collection of fairy tales for children, B. Dehterev widely illustrated with a pen "Dead Princess" and "The Tale of the Popes...". A short time later, a large series of pencil drawings for all five fairy tales was prepared.
The color drawings included in this collection date from 1949-1957. Collected together, they are published in an independent edition for the first time.
