Thanks to writer Leonid Soloviev, the jolly knave Khoja Nasreddin became a true symbol of Uzbekistan. In the 1920s, Soloviev worked as a correspondent for the newspaper Pravda Vostoka and passionately collected Central Asian folklore. The legends and tales he recorded about Khoja Nasreddin formed the basis of the cheerful story about the adventures of the trickster "The Disturber of Tranquility" and the philosophical and lyrical "The Enchanted Prince".
Graphic drawings by artist Stanislav Zabaluev made Nasreddin's image canonical.
