Flight of the Raven
"...These days, every essential commodity has its own card with tear-off coupons. Perhaps it's time to introduce cards for hope. That's what's most needed."
Paris, June 1944. Jeanne, a member of the French Resistance, is arrested following an anonymous denunciation. In her prison cell, she meets François, a petty crook. Little did either of them know that this meeting would dramatically change their fates and mark the beginning of a fascinating adventure.
Together, the heroes manage to escape and find themselves in the thick of dangerous events. They run across Parisian rooftops, take a leisurely journey along the rivers and canals of France aboard the barge "Himalaya," and search for their missing sister, who, apparently, has fallen into the clutches of the Nazis...
"Flight of the Raven" is a touching and dramatic love story set during the German occupation. It lacks the brutal battle scenes typical of war novels. We follow the daily life of Paris and the characters trying to navigate these challenging times.
Highlights of the book:
A work by the master of French graphic novels, Jean-Pierre Gibras.
Memorable Parisian rooftops and river barges on the Seine, almost like separate characters.
The novel won the Best Drawing Award at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.
Each page is like a painting.
A mini-album of illustrations and sketches is at the end of the book.
Who is this book for:
For anyone who enjoys action-packed stories.
For all comic book lovers.
For those who believe in love.
For fans of Jean-Pierre Gibras.
