Alexander Pavlovich Chudakov (1938-2005) is a famous literary critic and writer, a major researcher of the work of Anton Chekhov.
In the monographs “Chekhov’s Poetics” (1971) and “Chekhov’s World: Emergence and Affirmation” (1986), he examines the entire work of the writer as an integral system, describing the properties of its different levels - from the subject to the ideological, based on the statistical material he collected. The relationship between the characters and the narrator, the choice of plots and the means of detailing the artistic space fall under the sensitive gaze of the researcher. The book also contains a biography of Alexander Pavlovich, which was written by the author’s wife Marietta Omarovna Chudakova (literary scholar, critic, writer) and his colleague Irina Gitovich (Chekhov scholar, literary historian, critic, textual critic).
