The book is the eighteenth volume of the series dedicated to the White Movement in Russia, and covers the actions of the Armed Forces in the South of Russia (VSYUR) in the summer and early fall of 1919, when the White troops, having taken Kharkov, Belgorod, Tsaritsyn, rushed north and had the immediate goal of occupying Moscow. By this time the number of the High Yugoslav Army amounted to about 250 thousand people.
During the offensive Kiev, Kursk, Voronezh, Orel were taken. On the directions of the main blows the famous named regiments of the Whites - Kornilovsky, Markovsky, Drozdovsky, Alekseevsky - operated. However, the stretching of the front line, and most importantly - the release of Bolshevik reserves from the Western (against the Poles) and Eastern (against Kolchak) fronts led first to the suspension of the offensive, and then to the beginning of the pullback to the south. The book is equipped with extensive and first published commentaries containing several hundred unknown biographical references about the authors and heroes of the essays.
