The monograph analyzes the phenomenon of the party front, so-called bipartisanship, which developed in the mid-1930s - non-principled opposition among the Bolshevik elite. We are talking about personal alternatives to Stalin, attempts to criticize the tightened regime by the leaders of the Bolshevik front - Kirov, Ordzhonikidze, Bukharin, their proposals for policy correction and their tragic deaths. The reflection of the Bolshevik intelligentsia, including historians and writers, is noted. The author focuses on the fates of prominent Bolsheviks from the Don and Kuban - Syrtsov, Eismont, Tolmachev, the Doroshev brothers, the Trifonov brothers, the Poluyanov brothers. A great place in the monograph is occupied by the coverage of political biographies of repressed party, Soviet, military and economic leaders of the Azov-Black Sea region and Rostov region - Sheboldaev, Evdokimov, Larin, Kashirin, Zhloba, Glebov-Avilov and others. Both constructive features of their political activity and ambiguous deeds are analyzed. The role of Stalin's emissary Andreev, the leadership of the regional party organization and NKVD structures in carrying out personnel repressions in the region is emphasized. The work is based on archival documents, verbatim reports of regional party conferences, archival and investigative files of the NKVD, historiographical publications, materials of local historians. The monograph is addressed to students, undergraduates and postgraduates of liberal arts universities, all those interested in the political history of Russia in the twentieth century.
