In the new edition dedicated to the creative legacy of the "most Russian artist" T.A. Mavrina (1900-1996), the main theme is Moscow, which she called her second homeland. The architectural chronicle of the city, created by Tatyana Alekseyevna in 1942-1945, can be called a real feat of this fragile woman. Rare drawings and paintings with views of Moscow streets, lanes, churches, parks from the collections of major art museums - the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin, the State Russian Museum, as well as collections of famous collectors create an image of her native city that is amazing in its beauty and originality.
The book for the first time widely presents a portrait gallery of Moscow friends and acquaintances, painted by the artist in the 1950s-1980s.
In connection with the "Moscow" theme, it is impossible not to mention the work of T.A. Mavrina in the now legendary publishing house "Academia", where she illustrated works by foreign classics, like her artist friends from "Group 45".
Here for the first time is published the correspondence of T.A. Mavrina and N.V. Kuzmin from the 1930s, when they participated together in the exhibitions of "Group 45" and when, in fact, their personal relations began to develop.
The book also concludes with the first published letters of the famous Moscow writer and bibliophile Vladimir Germanovich Lidin (1895-1979) to N.V. Kuzmin and T.A. Mavrina, with whom he maintained friendly relations for several decades. They are written in a lively, vivid language, with a great sense of humor and represent a unique example of the epistolary genre of the mid-20th century.
The publication is richly illustrated and will be of interest to both a wide range of readers and bibliophiles.
