"Little House on the Prairie" is the second book of the famous autobiographical epic by American writer Laura Ingles Wilder. Laura and her sisters, along with her parents, leave the forests of Wisconsin and begin to settle in Kansas, the land of wild Indian tribes. Wilders have to survive a dangerous crossing of a raging river, a fire on the prairie and a terrible fever that almost killed the whole family. And the neighborhood with the Indians becomes more and more dangerous as time goes on: they can suddenly enter the house in Daddy's absence, scare Mom and the girls, and take all the food and animal pelts that Daddy got on the hunt. But Daddy, as in the first book, is still the main man in the family, a jack of all trades (and build a house, and dig a well, and play the violin), tenderly loving his daughters and faithful wife. He is once again organizing the life of the family from scratch. And Dad is also very brave: he emerges victorious in a confrontation with a cougar. Mom with amazing patience and calmness endures all the hardships of life, whether it is a long road in the van and unsettled life in a new place. On the way, she heats an iron on the fire and ironed the dresses of her daughters on the seat of the van, and in the house freshly built by Dad puts a porcelain shepherdess on the mantelpiece - a symbol of family prosperity and comfort. Thanks to the amazing artistic memory of the writer, her attention to people and things, the book is read easily, with a lively interest, and the reader of 10-12 years old has a natural desire to compare his own childhood with the childhood of Laura.
