Not every town has a tame lion, a talking camel or the world's kindest police officer. But in Cardamom, everyone can meet them. In addition, the town's residents ride the double-decker streetcar without a ticket, where they sing songs and eat fragrant gingerbread. True, sometimes robbers visit Cardamom, but that only makes life there more interesting! The book was first published in the USSR in 1956 and has been very popular among children and parents ever since. The book was originally published in Norway with illustrations and notes by the author himself, which will see the light of day in our country for the first time. Thorbjørn Egner (1912-1990) - a famous Norwegian writer and artist, author of radio shows, plays, musicals. He won the Spellemannprisen music award (the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy Award) three times, in 1975, 1977, and 1982. Egner was the first to translate Milne's Winnie the Pooh series into Norwegian. He also invented the town of Cardamom, which the Norwegians loved so much that they built it life-size, with a tower, streetcar and post office.
