Kwak is very happy that he was born a green frog. He is proud that he is the best swimmer and jumper. Kwak is sure that he is very lucky in life. But one day he realizes his own imperfection: he can't fly like Duck, can't bake pies like Piglet, can't craft like Rat and can't read like Hare. "I'm just a worthless silly frog," he laments. Fortunately, his friends manage to convince Quack that they love him just the way he is.
Max Welthuis (1923-2005) was a Dutch artist and writer who became world famous for his series of picture books about a little green frog with a big expressive mouth. For his contribution to children's literature Max Weltheis was honored with the highest professional award - the Hans Christian Andersen International Prize.
The Quack books are now published in 40 languages around the world, and critics everywhere recognize them as true masterpieces of minimalism. In them, simple words and images tell about very complex and important things for every person: about learning about the big world, about learning about others and oneself. They unexpectedly reveal such seemingly not childish experiences as feelings of deep despair and hopelessness, the agony of unrequited love, loss of faith in oneself. Max Weltheys manages to talk about all this in the language of a three-year-old child, while preserving the depth of the main character's experiences.
For preschool age.
