The writer has always been interested in the topic of how a child masters his native speech. Based on his own observations (and the writer loved to communicate with children), he created his fairy tales. “Fly-Tsokotukha”, “Barmaley”, “Moidodyr”, “Aibolit”, “Cockroach”, “Stolen Sun” and many other works included in our book are still popular today among young readers and their parents.
Gennady Vladimirovich Kalinovsky (1929–2006) is an illustrator, winner of many international awards. Graduated in 1955 Surikov Art Institute, G. Kalinovsky initially drew for newspapers and magazines, and after a while he came to children's illustration, which brought him world fame. In K. Chukovsky's fairy tales there are bright colors, characters in motion, funny, rustic, and sometimes scary animals. A formidable bear with eyes red from anger, opening the mouth of the Crocodile in “The Stolen Sun”, looking like a beautiful girl, Fly-Tsokotukha, cheerful and small Barmaley, crawling out of the mouth of the Crocodile. G. Kalinovsky’s illustrations to K. Chukovsky’s fairy tales are the ones that will catch your eye and will definitely interest a child. For children under 3 years old.
