The collection contains documents from the Russian federal archives, the Foreign Policy Archives of the Russian Empire and the National Archives of Armenia, dedicated to the events of the First World War in the Caucasus theater of military operations in 1914-1917. Documents from the active army, the Military and Naval Ministries, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tell about the planning, progress and results of combat operations of the Russian army and navy, the diplomatic aspects of the policy of the Russian Empire in the region, the situation of prisoners of war, refugees and the civilian population of Transcaucasia and the regions of Turkey occupied by right of war. Newsreel footage filmed on the Caucasian front is published. The scientific reference apparatus of the publication includes a historical and archaeographic preface, footnotes and notes on the content of documents, biographical commentary, name and geographical indices, and a list of published documents. The collection of documents is intended for specialist historians, as well as for a wide range of readers interested in the history of the First World War and the Caucasus region.
