In Grushetsvet, a family of crows lived on the top of a large poplar. Every day, except Sundays and holidays, Mrs. Kar-Karr laid an egg - pale green with black speckles. And the next day, returning from the store, she found the nest empty. This went on for many days, until one day Mrs. Kar-Karr found the Rattlesnake in her house - with an egg in its mouth. The poor crow could hardly wait for her husband to come home from work and demanded that he kill the villain himself. But Mr. Kar-Karr did not do this, and went for advice to his friend - the Wise Owl. And he told him how to teach the thief a lesson once and for all.

The tale is published in Russian in a beautiful translation by Olga Varshaver and with illustrations by the famous Italian artist Beatrice Alemagna, made in mixed media using collage and applique.
