The ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, like Confucius, did not leave his own works. But his students, Plato and Xenophon, conveyed to us Socrates' philosophical views in the form of dialogues and short stories. Thanks to this, we know what Socrates taught, what his main life values were, what problems of existence occupied him. For the first time in one collection, the sayings of a wise philosopher are collected, from whom the reader still has something to learn. True, sometimes in Plato's texts Socrates says one thing, and in Xenophon's texts, on the same issue, something completely different, as if he contradicts himself. This is caused by the memory and interpretation of the teacher's thoughts by his no less famous students. But it is all the more interesting to follow the chain of Socrates' thoughts and draw your own conclusions. The collection is logically supplemented by biographical notes about the philosopher by Diogenes Laërtius, who briefly describes the life of Socrates and tells of his tragic death.
