Flaudoard of Rheims (894-966) was the greatest of the first chroniclers of the West Frankish kingdom, future France. Flodoard's main works and the most important sources on the history of France are the "Annals" and the "History of the Church of Rheims" in 4 books. "Annals" - one of the few chronicles of the 10th century, written by a contemporary of the events described, and the only major West Frankish chronicle that has survived from that time. "History of the Church of Reims" is set out from the foundation of Reims in the time of Romulus and Remus, includes the entire Christian history of the city until 948. This "History" is a traditional example of the genre of gesta episcoporum ("Acts of the bishops"). The reference apparatus of the edition contains notes and comments on each book, a list of bishops, and detailed name and geographical indexes. The book includes translations of two of Flodoard's major works.
