For the first time in Russian, the correspondence between the Russian Emperor Alexander I and his Swiss tutor F.-S. Lagarp is published in full.
The second volume of this edition contains about 200 documents and covers the period from Lagarp's departure from St. Petersburg in May 1802 to the end of the Congress of Vienna in June 1815. Among the main topics of correspondence between Lagarp and Alexander I during these years are the Napoleonic Wars and Russia's attitude to them, Russia's attempts to influence the peaceful settlement of European problems, the inevitability of its clash with Napoleon, and the measures to be taken to successfully repel his aggressive policy. During the campaign of the Russian army on Paris and the Congress of Vienna, Alexander I and Lagarp had many conversations on the political reorganization of Switzerland. It was thanks to the intervention of the Russian emperor that the federal structure and the borders of Switzerland as a whole were preserved and still exist today.
