Erik Erikson is a renowned American sociologist and one of the most cited psychologists of the 20th century. His concept of the stages of human development has had a significant influence on modern psychology. His book "Identity and the Life Cycle," which includes three of the master's early works, along with "Childhood and Society," is considered by many experts to be the best introduction to Erikson's theory.
The first work, "Ego Development and Historical Change," represents the quintessence of therapeutic and field observations, which later formed the basis for "Childhood and Society." The second work, "Growth and Crises of the Healthy Personality," extends beyond adolescence and describes all eight stages of personality development. In the third work, "The Problem of Ego Identity," Erikson consistently examines identity crises from biographical, clinical, and social perspectives.
