Galician Rus'. From the First Partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to the First World War. 1772-1914

The book tells about the events that took place in and around Galicia (Austrian Galicia) in the period from 1772 to 1914, from the first partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, when Galician Rus', the ancient Russian land, came under Austrian rule, to the beginning of the First World War.
Special attention is paid to the story of how, despite all the obstacles put up by the Polish and Austrian authorities, the Galician Ruthenians came to realize the idea of all-Russian national-cultural unity, which they declared in 1866. The opponents of Rus' set the task to create an "anti-Moscow Rus'" in Galicia. In these conditions, part of the Galician-Russian people remained on the position of recognizing Russian unity, and from the other part was formed Galician-Ukrainian movement, imbued with the spirit of irreconcilable hostility and hatred for everything Russian. The book touches upon the topic of Ukrainophilia in the Russian Empire, and also tells about little-known or unknown to modern readers events from the life of Galicia and the city of Lviv in the period 1772-1914.
