Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears
For Juan Cortés, revolution is his work. And death is his hobby.
There are many of them—those whose souls have been gnawed by addiction. Some live solely for the thrill, others cannot live without euphoric substances. But Juan Cortés is deeply addicted to revolution. For years, he has traveled through war-torn countries and conflict zones, offering his experience and training to the highest bidder.
This time, fate has brought Juan to Santa Costa, a country in South America that reminds him very much of his native Yara. Just like the island captured by Anton Castillo, the economy of this small and unknown state changed overnight after the discovery of a rare resource—a mineral called tantalum.
Now the country is pitted against one another by three camps: the military dictatorship that recently came to power under Di Stefano, the bourgeois party led by the daughter of the assassinated former ruler, and a group of revolutionaries defending the rights of workers and indigenous people. It is this group, led by Max Purillo, that has taken an interest in Juan's talents.
For Cortés, this is a fabulous offer: there's a nascent revolution, a political crisis, and, most importantly, money. Lots of money. They demand that Juan deliver a crushing blow to the regime: he must spark an uprising by assassinating General Di Stefano. But, of course, everything goes completely wrong...
