Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov (1711-1765), the Russian "Leonardo da Vinci", the son of a peasant-pomor from Kholmogorsk, was not only a brilliant physicist, chemist and astronomer, but also an outstanding Russian historian, one of the first to oppose the Norman theory and the doctrine of the "unhistoricity of the Russian people" preached by German historians. Lomonosov believed that the Slavic "language and people extend into deep antiquity," the Slavs lived four thousand years ago on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and participated in the Trojan War, after which they settled in Europe. A significant part of the "Ancient Russian History" written by M.V. Lomonosov tells about it.
