The worlds of the universe of Ursula Le Guin's famous Hainsky cycle are not so much striking to the imagination (although there is plenty of that here) as they are making us think about the main, sometimes insoluble problems that evolution and nature put in the way of universal humanity. In the novel "The Dispossessed" (awarded the Hugo, Nebula, Lockheed and Prometheus prizes), we are faced with two twin planets, Urros and Anarres: on one, society is divided into two irreconcilable parts, on the other, deserted and uninhabitable, the settlers are convinced that only by joining forces, it is possible to improve the world and bring humanity closer to the future union of Ecumene. In Four Paths to Forgiveness, a novel of four novellas, we are taken to a world where slavery is the norm and an accepted way of life. One of the novellas, The Day of Forgiveness, won the Theodore Starjon Memorial Award and the Asimov Readers' Award. The novel "The Interpreters" (Locus Award) takes us to the planet Aka, a living embodiment of the winged phrase that good intentions pave the road to hell and not all progress, especially imposed from the outside, benefits the indigenous inhabitants of the planet.
