The poem "The Divine Comedy" has been a symbol of spiritual rebirth for seven centuries.
However, at the time of its creation, Dante Alighieri was exiled from Florence. Having received no support, the former politician and philosopher created his masterpiece, combining features of both ancient and Christian culture, forever glorifying Italian literature.
In his dream, Dante, together with the greatest playwright of antiquity - Virgil - descends into the world of the afterlife, passing through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. Plunging deeper and deeper, the hero begins to feel more and more compassion for sinners - abandoned and glorious figures of antiquity. In this symbolic vision, everything: animals, stones, plants, people - fulfill their predestined role, given to them by divine Providence.
Inspired by the depth and symbolism of the work, Salvador Dali created a whole series of works. These illustrations are not just visual additions to Dante's text, they become independent works of art that inspire deep reflection on the meaning of life, good and evil, love and hate.
Dali, with his inherent playfulness and irony, interprets images, turning them into vivid and memorable visions. His unique style and philosophical approach recreate the great heritage, revealing its new facets to the modern viewer.
