This monograph describes the years of Otto von Bismarck's diplomatic activity, when he represented Prussia in Frankfurt am Main, St. Petersburg and Paris, as well as the initial period of his activity as Minister-President of Prussia. As a result of the study of materials from Russian and German archives, published collections of documents, Russian and German daily periodicals, testimonies and memoirs of contemporaries of the events, Bismarck's perception of the Russian foreign policy course, the internal potential of the Russian Empire, its political leadership, and the policy of the tsarist administration on the national outskirts of the empire were studied. The result of the consideration of these subjects through the prism of major events that took place in Europe in the period from 1851 to 1863 was the analysis of the international position of Prussia in the 50s of the XIX century. Bismarck's perception, his assessment of the Russian factor in the foreign policy of the Prussian kingdom and the importance that, in his opinion, Russia really had to take in the international course of Berlin.
