Venedikt Erofeev went down in literary history as the author of the cult underground poem “Moscow - Petushki”, which has already been translated into more than thirty languages. It would seem that Erofeev’s creative legacy is not too great: “Notes of a Psychopath”, “Walpurgis Night”, an essay about Rozanov and several other works of short prose. Meanwhile, a significant part of the writer’s heritage is the diaries that he kept since the late 1950s: more than 30 notebooks and notebooks have survived, where biographical entries are interspersed with notes on the occasion, quotes from books, songs and conversations, anecdotes, puns, his own and other people's maxims, etc., becoming essentially a creative laboratory. For fans of Erofeev, this is truly invaluable material. This publication presents fragments from diaries from different years, including previously unpublished entries from the 1980s.
