This book was written by Russian writer and journalist Alexander Ivanovich Krasnitsky (1866-1917). For the first time it was published in Moscow in 1904 with the subtitle "A story chronicle of the life of General M. D. Skobelev".Mikhail Dmitrievich Skobelev was born on September 17, old style 1843 in the Peter and Paul Fortress, the commandant of which was his grandfather, and in the Peter and Paul Cathedral was baptized. He became famous for his fortitude and heroism in the Turkestan campaigns of the Russian army: in the Khiva campaign (1873), in the Kokand campaign (1875-1876) - and in the liberation of Bulgaria (1877-1878). Russian and Turkish soldiers, who saw him more than once on the battlefield in a white uniform, called him "white general". The Bulgarian people considered Skobelev their national hero. M. D. Skobelev died on July 25, 1883, buried in his family estate, the village of Spasskoye-Zaborovskoye, Ryazhsky uyezd, Ryazan province (now - the village of Zaborovo, Alexander-Nevsky district, Ryazan region), next to his parents, where even during his life, anticipating his death, prepared a place. Currently, the remains of the General and his parents have been transferred to the restored Spassky Church of the same village. Short allegorical and instructive stories give people the opportunity to look at themselves as if from the outside, and having seen, - to experience their relationship with God and His eternal spiritual laws at a higher and more tangible level. The language of the book is fascinating, succinct, but at the same time lucid, which allows it to be read by both adults and children.
