The book is the tenth volume of a series devoted to the history of the White Movement in Russia and the events on the North-Western Front from the fall of 1918 to the beginning of 1920 according to the memoirs of its participants. It covers in detail the combat activities of such well-known military commanders as N.N. Yudenich, His Serene Highness Prince A.P. Lieven, A.P. Rodzianko, A.E. Vandam, Count A.P. Palen, P.V. Glazenap, K.I. Dydorov, B.S. Permikin, S.N. Bulak-Bulakhovich, P.R. Bermondt-Avalov and others. Much attention is paid to the complex military and political aspects of the relationship of the White armies with former allies (British and French) and former adversaries (Germans), as well as with the Baltic countries that were striving for independence. It shows the tragic situation of the Russian armies in Estonia, forced after the unsuccessful campaign against Petrograd to disband, turn into a mass of refugees and end up in Estonian forced forestry camps for "persons with no defined occupation". The book is accompanied by extensive and for the first time published commentaries containing several hundred unknown biographical references about the authors and heroes of the essays.
