Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Igor Viktorovich Zimin presents another book from the series "Daily Life of the Russian Imperial Court". It will talk about one of the most beautiful palaces of St. Petersburg - Anichkov Palace. Anichkov Palace is one of the architectural dominants of Nevsky Prospekt, the most prominent architects had a hand in shaping its appearance. But the palace is even more important as the favorite residence of two Russian monarchs - Nicholas I and Alexander III. The years of their youth, the beginning of their family life and the birth of their children are connected with this house. They lovingly furnished this house and returned to it with joy. It is also important that both monarchs lived in the Anichkov Palace in the status of tsesareviches, when the avalanche of the monarch's affairs and worries had not yet fallen on them. In this residence the monarchs were formed not only as future statesmen, but also as individuals, with all their strengths and weaknesses. Traces of the pastimes of their youth left a noticeable trace in the history of Russian culture. Surprisingly enough, the history of the Anichkov Palace has a scanty historiography. Of course, it is mentioned in many books, but it is mentioned... With this work, the author fills the unfortunate gaps in the history of the architectural masterpiece, describing the most different facets of the life of Anichkov Palace. The book has no analogues on the modern market and deserves the attention of the widest range of readers.
