Nikolai Pavlovich Zadornov (1909-1992) - famous Russian writer, Honored Cultural Worker of the Latvian SSR (1969). He wrote two large cycles of works about the development of Siberia and the Far East by Russian pioneers in the XNUMXth century. "Gold Rush" is a continuation of the well-known novel "Amur-father". In the last decades of the XNUMXth century, rich gold placers were discovered on numerous tributaries of the Amur. Driven by poverty and deprivation, the settlers went to the taiga in whole villages to wash the noble metal. Here and there, in the depths of the Amur forests, “fraternal republics” of prospectors arose with their own laws and rulers. Some of them even entered into an open struggle with the tsarist authorities.
